Hamdards herbal medicine postgraduates are in high demand and will be needed to meet a growing demand for their products and expertise, a senior executive has said.
The New Zealand-based company, based in Auckland, has opened its first full-time herbal medicine research postgraduate post and expects to be in the position of “super-professionals” in the coming years, said executive vice president Dr Sam Whetstone.
Hamdards will be looking to recruit postgraduate staff for a number of roles over the next three to five years, he said.
“We will be bringing in people who have the ability to work in a range of different areas of our business and also we’re very keen to have them contribute to the development of our products and we think they will be very beneficial to our product development,” Whetstones said.
Hamodard’s products include herbal medicines, topical products, topical ointments, creams and body sprays.
Hamrad’s medicinal herb is said to have helped people with depression, anxiety and anxiety disorders and some form of cancer.
The company says the medicinal herb has been used for more than 200 years in the treatment of chronic diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis and other musculoskeletal conditions.
The company employs about 100 people.
It has about 100 staff, including a chief research scientist, a research associate, a marketing and sales manager, and a general manager, Whetsey said.
Hamdard currently employs about 80 people in Auckland.
The group is expanding the size of its team, including about 100 more people in the Auckland and Wellington areas.
“We’re in the early stages of our expansion and we’ll be looking at bringing in new people and doing further expansion in Wellington and Auckland,” Withstone said.
Hammard is in the process of establishing a new research office in Auckland and has a second research and development site in the CBD.
Hamad’s medicinal products are being used in many other countries around the world and are marketed by the company as “herbal cures”.
