Kratom is an herbal supplement that has been used as a treatment for pain for hundreds of years, but it’s still illegal in the United States.
That’s changed with the passage of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) new opioid regulations, which include stricter penalties for using kratom as a painkiller or stimulant.
Kratom is a Southeast Asian plant that has a variety of medicinal properties.
The leaves and seeds of the plant have been used in traditional medicine for thousands of years.
It has a calming effect, relieving muscle tension and pain and improving sleep.
It’s also known for its ability to relieve symptoms of a wide variety of medical conditions.
The DEA says it is currently prohibited from prescribing or selling kratom because it contains a controlled substance, but the agency will likely consider other regulations to further restrict the substance.
The DEA says the agency has been inundated with calls and emails from consumers concerned about the substance and is reviewing the data to determine if there are any additional restrictions that should be placed on kratom.
In the meantime, people who wish to use kratom to relieve pain should do so in a medical setting, the DEA says.
