The truth is, herbal medicine has proven useful for a lot of people.
And when it comes to cancer prevention, it has.
But as long as it remains illegal and unregulated, it will not be used as a medical treatment.
That’s why we are calling on the Trump administration to end the prohibition on herbal medicine.
We are calling for a complete, independent, and impartial review of all the evidence and recommendations from over 30 years of research that shows that herbal medicine can be a valuable health care option for a wide range of conditions and diseases.
This review should include all the studies conducted to date, as well as those that have yet to be completed.
We call on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to ensure that all studies that have been conducted to support or refute the efficacy of herbal medicines for cancer prevention and that are funded by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) are conducted in a way that includes data quality and evidence.
We urge the FDA to investigate all the available data on the use of herbal medicine and to review all of the existing clinical trials to make sure that there are no conflicts of interest.
In addition, we call for the agency to make public its final report on all of these studies that show the safety and efficacy of a wide variety of herbal and non-traditional herbal remedies for the treatment of chronic and severe diseases and conditions.
We also call on Congress to review the proposed 2018 budget to ensure its appropriateness for the next 10 years, which would fund a full review of the current evidence on herbal remedies and to provide additional funding for the NIH.
It is important to remember that the Trump Administration has repeatedly failed to do its job, and we are committed to taking back the reins of power from the Congress, and ending the illegal, illegitimate, and unnecessary prohibition on the sale and use of herbs and nonessential ingredients in America’s health care.
We look forward to continuing to work with our partners to fight the war on cancer.
